CLEAN FOR GREEN FOUNDATION:
History behind the Journey
I
Mahasina Tarafder, chairman
Clean For Green Foundation Registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, was founded in 2021 by a woman who, after marriage, encountered the reality of rural waste management up close: no systems, no infrastructure, and no plan for the garbage accumulating around her new home. Rather than treat that as someone else’s problem to solve, she built an organization around it.
What began as a personal response to a local gap has grown into a women-led organization with a genuinely holistic mandate — solid waste management, mangrove forestation in the Sundarbans, preservation of the Noai River and local water bodies, women’s livelihoods, and youth skill-building, Educational help to underprivileged children, relief to Yaas affected family in Sunderban. Few NGOs operate across that many fronts with equal seriousness and fewer still can point to a nationally recognized, community-funded project as proof of concept. The Clean For Green Foundation can. The work detailed below shows exactly how and where corporate CSR capital can extend it.
Our approach
Our Mission
To collaborate with communities across rural and urban areas, with a focus on the marginalized, to improve waste management, encourage sustainable practices, and create eco-friendly livelihood opportunities that protect the environment and enhance quality of life.
From a listening ear or urgent relief to education and skills training, we deliver practical support straight to people when they need it most—ensuring no one stands alone.
Our Vision
Clean For Green Foundation envisions clean and sustainable environment where waste is managed responsibly and seen as a valuable resource. By promoting the idea of “Waste to Wealth,” the Foundation aims to build greener communities, reduce environmental impact, and create opportunities for better livelihoods at the local level.
We envision a future where no young person hesitates to ask for help, and every struggling youth is met with immediate access to education, employment, and lasting community support—no matter where they live.
